Ha! I've got every Pokemon except Manaphy and Shaymin! And if you have those, then I will curl up in my sock drawer and cry for days. Really.

Couple of things.

I have Pokemon Y and I've put about 15 hours of work into it so far. This has been my first Pokemon in over 15 years, too. I'm really digging the game. There's a lot of variety in it and I like how amusingly retarded Team Flare is. They're no Team Rocket but I love their battle logo and battle theme. Actually, I really have to give Game Freaks major ups for the music work in this game. They did an excellent job with the soundtrack so far and deserve to be commended for it.

You know, I don't even know how Genwun can even be a thing. There's so much more shit in this game than there was when I was rocking this shit on a GBC that I am continually amazed. I'm deliberately trying not to spoil myself with the game, too, so I was taken completely off guard by the new Pokemon types (PSYCHIC IS NO LONGER AN AUTO-WIN, WTF?!?!), went until the end of the second Gym before I realized that I can equip stuff, didn't even realize that there were Abilities in this game until I got my team rekt with a Sandstorm (I love to live dangerously), and didn't even realize that potions were a complete money sink with the gardens until I dicked around with that. And you should've seen the look on my face the first time I got Swarm'd.

Damn, Pokemon is fucking fancy now. Me likey. Everyone who says that only the original Pokemon is worth anything sucks hookworms from Bidoof's anus after being hit with Toxic.

Right now my team is Meowstic, Amaura, Lucario, Venusaur, Frogadier, and Litleo. I really wish that there was a way to have more than six Pokemon in your main team. There's so many fucking cool Pokemon in the series at this point that I'm just arbitrarily swapping Pokemon in and out. The only reason why I'm even vaguely at the right level is because of EXP Share and the Pokemon daycare. And I haven't even gotten to use some of the Pokemon that I really have my eye on.

Fuck, why does this game go out of its way to offer you so many cool Pokemon and then go out of its way to make you bond with them but then keep introducing cooler Pokemon? I need like, a team of twenty Pokemon at least before I feel satisfied. Do you think that Game Freaks should like, let us have Pokemon stacks? Teams within teams?

Second thing: could someone explain to me why Gen V has so much butthurt over it? From what I gathered, pretty much every generation, including VI, has fans over it but when you bring up BW1 Miss Kitty spits at you and the piano player slams on the keyboard and the tavernkeep snarls that this kind of talk will not be welcome in our fair town.

Apparently, what people hate most about Gen V is A.) the villain group tries to be DEEP and ADULT by adding a bunch of deconstructions not really welcome in the series and B.) the hero group is unsympathetic and stupid. What do you, the viewers at home think?

I was about to go to bed and then I saw this, so now I can't sleep unless I get this out. If it comes off as more incoherent than I normally am, that's why.

Anywhat, I don't know 'bout no one else, and I'm sure someone like Darth Rabbitt or Koumei could do it better, but here's what I hated about Black/White:

- The villainous team are a bunch of straw-men retards whose cry of "GIVE UP YUR POKEMON BECAUSE BATTLING THEM IS BAD" came off as a really bad parody of PETA. Also, N was a sniveling shit. And them constantly shouting "PLLLAAAASSSSMMAAAA!" like they're fucking Cobra (they wish) or something was just very annoying, and their outfits reminded me of a phallus.

- Cheren and Bianca are the most fantastically retarded and stupid characters in video game history. There has never been any other fictional character that I've wanted to personally MURDER more than Bianca.

- Unova is supposed to be based off of New York and the USA. It's not. I mean, Game Freak put more effort into making Kalos France than they did trying to make Unova America. Also, for a setting that is supposedly set in the states, only like four Pokemon have any real American origin: Trubbish/Garbodor, which is based on the trash and filth found in NY, and Rufflet/Braviary, which is based on, obviously, Groucho Marx. Most of the Gen V Pokemon are shit from Japanese mythology or design, whereas a huge percentage of the Gen VI Pokemon are very, very French. Also, this is Pokemon's idea of what a black person looks like:

- The back battle sprites are FUCKING HORRIBLE FUCKING SHIT I FUCKING HATE THIS GAME sorry, had to get that out of the way. The back battle sprites are very shoddy: They are all blown up and very pixelated, which is shit because in every previous game the back sprites all look nice. And not pixel-y.

- Some of the characters, like Elesa Lady Gaga were just stupid, and the fact that their gyms had secondary functions (art gallery? AMUSEMENT PARK?! DA FUCK?)

- Alder looks like rapist, and even at one point suggests that the player BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF SOME PRESCHOOLERS BECAUSE HE THINKS IT'D BE GOOD FOR THEM.

- I hate this game. HatehatehatehatehatehatehateHATEHATEKILLHATEHATEMUSTKILLFEEDTOTHEMADGODHATEHTATRHEHATEA HATE IT.

Black2/White2 was better, but that's really not hard to achieve in this case. X/Y, like you said, is indeed one of the best games in recent years, with ORAS being (almost) better.

The only game worse, in my opinion, is Metroid: Other M, but we shall never speak of that.

Well, and then Plasma just comes off as fucking hypocrites, because their cause is the end of pokemon battling, because it's cruel, and they pursue this with... pokemon battling? If Team Plasma fought you by running up and punching you or grabbing your pokemon or something, that'd at least be consistent with their crusade.

However, as dumb as Plasma was, their outfits were way better than Team Galactic's.

I definitely agree with you on Bianca, though. Cheren was was annoying, but he was the usual poke-nerd groupee. Bianca was just pitiful, and it's super immersion-breaking when she actually has high level pokemon, but is supposed to be an absolute shit trainer. She should basically have stopped battling you after the first gym. The XY groupees were annoying too, but nowhere near as bad as Bianca.

I could have sworn the dancers were supposed to be brazilian, though.

I basically don't really agree with the rest of your points, other than back sprites (don't remember) and PedoAlder.

ORAS is awesome so far, but I do wish they'd let us choose outfits again. I will probably do very little contests, unless the outfit thing is only seen entering and leaving the contest, because I play femme trainers and that frilly pink dress is a fucking insult to my aesthetics. If the new AR wasn't such a pain to use, I'd consider changing my trainer's gender before entering contests (but now AR can only modify save files, so that's too much work for that thing)

The American pokemon should all wear sunglasses and have the American flag as a bandana.

And it's not just backsprites, they're simply the worst offenders. There are a lot of cases where it zooms in or out and just stretches sprites out and looks shitty, like when entering buildings. Oddly enough, it's not as bad when using the larger screen of the whatever variety, as everything is a little bit stretched anyway so it doesn't look as bad when some things get extra stretched.

There is only one good backsprite in Gen V.

I thought that was intentional, to make them seem like jerks. (Although I could see it as a "necessary evil" type deal, where since the powerful people use Pokemon, Team Plasma needs to as well in order to defeat them.) The bigger problem with Team Plasma is that nothing actually indicates their cause is wrong, other than that the guys who tout it are jerks, which is true with Team Status Quo as well. A few examples of everyone on Team Status Quo being assholes:

[*]The Champion asks the player and Cheren (annoying companion character #1) to battle some preschoolers, and talks about how wonderful an event it is when you kick their asses. Even assuming there's nothing wrong with Pokemon battling (an issue that the GAME ITSELF raises), that suggests that getting adolescents to kick 4-year old asses in competitions is a good thing to do. He also stalks Cheren, which combined with the above makes him come off as a massive pedophile (perhaps ephebophile as well, given that he's stalking an adolescent boy).
[*]N effectively defeats the Champion (I think he makes him concede the battle, actually, but whatever), presumably making him Champion. When you defeat N, you are not given the title of Champion, for no clear reason, which makes him come off as an ungrateful asshole for you saving his bacon.
[*]After N loses, he is told by the guy using him (his father figure) that he's worthless. He's also seen his life's ambition just be ruined. The Champion then chides N, saying something to the effect of "what now, bitch?" despite the fact that N is already clearly feeling really bad. So this guy is verbally abusing an abused teenager for no reason.
[*]Professor Juniper actually says that people should be able to do WHATEVER THEY WANT with their Pokemon. (emphasis mine.) Even if your mind DOESN'T go into the gutter, that means that beating, torturing, unethical experimentation and even killing them are perfectly fine things to do. And typically we're supposed to see the Professor as the authority on Pokemon, and therefore the greatest messenger of the Status Quo. This undermines the "Team Plasma is wrong" message the hardest.
[*]The whole Bianca subplot where her father (who is protective of her because she is stupid and an inept trainer) is told by a Gym Leader (and fashion model, which is seriously how she introduces herself) that he's selfish for wanting to keep his child safe in a world of wild Pokemon and Trainers who are currently stealing Pokemon. I'm not even fucking kidding.
[*]Any time Cheren opens his whore mouth. God how I hate that fucker.

But so back with the problem with Team Plasma. The first lines of dialogue you hear after your first battle (well after the whole annoying companion characters throw you money and run out of your house) is from your mother, and she literally says "I heard their cries from up here!" That's a pretty strong hint that fighting your pets to unconsciousness is not particularly ethical. Now, that's one line, but it's one of the first things said about battling in the game and so it sticks more than anything else. Seriously, I think the game's message is supposed to be "Pokemon are like Saiyans, they enjoy training and battling." That's really hard to screw up. AND THEY DID.

However, as dumb as Plasma was, their outfits were way better than Team Galactic's.

And both had better outfits than Team Fashionistas. Team Aqua/Magma's were better than any of those, but still really just mediocre. Team Rocket were the only bad guys who actually dressed cool.

I thought Cheren was worse because of his 50000 word monologues about how TEAM PLASMA IS WRONG, BATTLING IS GOOD, NOTICE ME ALDER-SENPAI. It's like an Ayn Rand novel, or a crappy PS1 game. Cheren isn't the only person who monologues, but he's the worst offender. As for the XY annoying companion characters, while no one was as stupid as Cheren or even Bianca, there were fucking four of them and they were all stupid. They pissed me off via sheer quantity, and by the fact that the previous game (Black 2/White 2) actually only had the one companion character, and he was Generic Namable Rival (he was bland, but not annoying), so I know that they could make games that didn't have several annoying companion characters.

Team Plasma's uniforms are based off of the crusaders. Their logo is based off of the Chi rho, which is a symbol that the first christian Roman emperor saw in a dream. Team Plasma uses dream-inducing pokemon to spread their message too.

As Black/White's Unova region takes place in the US they made their antagonist team really self righteous and always talking about how they're good and you're evil, very black & white thinking typical of American storytelling. N has good intentions though but corruption in the church has co-opted his ideals. There is no easy solution to conflict and taking a black/white view on things only makes it worse, that's the main message in B/W.

You guys doing Friend Safari? The pokemon you get in that are guaranteed to have at least two stats with perfect IV's. My safari pokemon are shuppet, the little twig ghost, and that dark/ghost who's name I forgot at the moment.

Recently got a good set of near-perfect IV dittos for breeding. My notes are beginning to sound like something the allies found in a nazi science bunker with all this talk of passing on IV's, natures, abilities, and discarding the imperfects.

I'm not doing Friend Safari--not sure Alpha Sapphire can do that--, but I'll happily trade fossils/starters for a ditto or two.

Edit: I've also got a Skrelp with Pokerus, if that makes any difference. I've been meaning to infect some things for trade.

If that was their message they failed miserably. Both sides are pretty much all bad, no good, with maybe a few OK people who have bought into their crazy. So given that Team Plasma vs. Unova League is Black vs. Black morality, I actually think a black and white morality works fine in the game world. If you wanted the story of Black/White (as you're presenting it) to work at all, you need to show that both sides actually have their good points. So they should've gone with something like Team Plasma as militant Pokemon Rangers who want to destroy civilization in order to make sure Pokemon can roam the world freely. Then you could go with "civilization has some good things, too, and we just need to make sure that people and Pokemon can coexist peacefully."

Well, as was stated earlier by Lago, they bring in a bunch of moral deconstructions whose presence is unwanted, uninvited. No one wants to play Pokémon if you are going to (poorly) attempt to make them feel guilty for playing the game.

I have no particularly strong feelings about mandibuzz other than hating the skull diaper on vullaby/thinking the "hair do" on mandibuzz is a bit dumb, and thinking the name mandibuzz would better fit some big giant beetle fly thing like this

As for the moral of the story being "You're all bad guys and assholes", that's not quite right: "Americans are all bad guys and assholes. IN AMERICA." is the moral of the story. And coming from a Japanese company, this doesn't surprise me.

A Kuwagamon, to be precise. It's notable because it's the very first opponent that the Chosen Children fight against.
(Pokemon's not the only thing I know a lot about)

Yeah, it's been way too long since I watched digimon, I had to find that picture by going to the digimon wikia, finding the "insectoid digimon" category and looking for something that seemed vaguely correct.
